Ingredients
- 1 White onion (Trimmed, then sliced into strips and cut into small pieces)
- Olive oil (A small drizzle, for cooking the onion)
- 250 g Ground beef or minced steak
- Salt (A small pinch)
- Pepper (A few turns of the pepper mill)
- Chili (A little; optional if you do not like spicy food)
- Mexican spice blend (A little)
- 1 Pizza dough (Unrolled and then divided into two portions)
- Grated mozzarella (Some in the saucepan and some on each of the two portions of dough)
Steps
- 1
Remove both ends of the white onion. Cut it into strips, then into small pieces.
- 2
Place the onion pieces in a saucepan. Add a small drizzle of olive oil and cook gently for about 2 to 3 minutes.
- 3
Add about 250 g of ground beef or minced steak to the saucepan. Break up and crumble the meat well so it is evenly distributed with the onion.
- 4
Season with a small pinch of salt and a few turns of the pepper mill.
- 5
Add a little chili, if desired, followed by a little Mexican spice blend.
- 6
Unroll the pizza dough on the work surface and divide it into two portions.
- 7
Add some grated mozzarella to the saucepan with the meat mixture.
- 8
Distribute grated mozzarella evenly over each of the two portions of pizza dough.
- 9
Once the mozzarella in the saucepan has melted completely, place the meat mixture directly onto the portions of dough.
- 10
Cook the patties in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 4 minutes on each side.
- 11
Continue cooking until nicely browned and the dough is fully cooked, then serve.
Notes
The transcript indicates about 4 minutes on each side but does not specify the exact cooking temperature for the meat or the quantities of mozzarella, oil, or spices. Several comments mention that the sides or dough may remain undercooked; therefore, make sure the dough is fully cooked and the meat reaches a safe internal temperature before serving.
