Ingredients

  • 0.5 watermelon (Use half a watermelon; cut or scoop a hole in it before freezing.)
  • whole milk (Add as needed the next day while scraping the frozen watermelon loose; approximately 500 ml is estimated for nutrition purposes.)

Steps

  1. 1

Cut a watermelon in half. Make a fairly large hole or opening in the cut side so that the frozen flesh can later be scraped and mixed with milk.

  2. 2

Place the prepared watermelon half in the freezer and freeze it overnight, until the flesh is thoroughly frozen.

  3. 3

The next day, pour whole milk into the opening of the frozen watermelon. Add it gradually rather than all at once, adjusting the amount to the texture you want.

  4. 4

Scrape the frozen watermelon flesh loose from the inside using a sturdy spoon. Continue scraping and mixing so the ice crystals combine with the milk and become a thick, scoopable mixture.

  5. 5

Serve immediately while the mixture has its characteristic combination of sorbet, ice cream, and slushie textures.

Notes

The transcript does not specify the exact amount of milk, so add it gradually to taste and consistency. The watermelon must be frozen overnight before mixing.
