Ingredients

  • 450 g ripe bananas (large; roughly mashed)
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 0.333 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • salt (a pinch)
  • 0.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (folded into the batter)
  • 3 tbsp butter (melted; for the cinnamon swirl)
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (for the cinnamon swirl)
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar (for the cinnamon swirl)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon (for the cinnamon swirl)
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips (for topping; the source does not specify an additional amount)

Steps

  1. 1

Mash the bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.

  2. 2

Add the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Whisk until combined.

  3. 3

Sift in the all-purpose flour, then add the baking soda and pinch of salt. Mix until the dry ingredients are incorporated.

  4. 4

Fold the semi-sweet chocolate chips into the banana bread batter.

  5. 5

In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon to make the cinnamon swirl mixture.

  6. 6

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  7. 7

Line an 8 × 4-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.

  8. 8

Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan.

  9. 9

Add a layer of the cinnamon mixture over the batter, then top with the remaining banana bread batter.

  10. 10

Add the remaining cinnamon mixture on top and swirl it through the batter to create a pattern.

  11. 11

Add chocolate chips on top. The source does not specify whether these are reserved from the listed chips or an additional amount.

  12. 12

Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Notes

Use ripe bananas for the best flavor. Adjust the cinnamon swirl amount to taste. Store leftovers at room temperature or freeze. The source lists chocolate chips as being folded into the batter and also added on top but does not specify a separate topping quantity.
