Ingredients
- 3 cup flour
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1.5 cup milk
- 2 eggs (Room temperature)
- 2 tsp vanilla (For the cake)
- 4 tbsp butter (Melted)
- 1 cup butter (Softened, for the filling)
- 1 cup brown sugar (Packed)
- 1 tbsp cinnamon (Plus a tiny bit for sprinkling over the top, if desired; additional amount not specified)
- 4 oz cream cheese (Softened)
- 2 tbsp butter (Softened, for the glaze)
- 1 tsp vanilla (For the glaze)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tbsp half and half or milk (Use either half and half or milk; a little more may be added for a thinner glaze)
- cooking spray (For the 9x13-inch baking pan)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- 2
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, milk, eggs, and cake vanilla. Mix with a hand mixer.
- 3
Slowly stir the melted butter into the cake mixture by hand until combined.
- 4
Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan.
- 5
In a medium bowl, mix the softened filling butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon with a hand mixer until smooth and combined.
- 6
Drop the cinnamon filling evenly over the cake batter.
- 7
Use a knife to swirl the filling back and forth through the batter until marbled.
- 8
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, until set and a toothpick comes out mostly clean. If butter is still floating around the edges, bake for a few more minutes.
- 9
While the cake bakes, put the softened cream cheese and glaze butter in a medium bowl. Beat with a hand mixer until completely smooth.
- 10
Mix the glaze vanilla and powdered sugar into the cream cheese mixture.
- 11
Add the half and half or milk 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until the glaze is thin enough to drizzle or pour. Add a little more if you prefer a thinner glaze.
- 12
After baking, let the cake sit for 5–10 minutes.
- 13
While the cake is still very warm, pour the cream cheese glaze over it and spread it evenly.
- 14
If desired, sprinkle a tiny bit of cinnamon over the top.
- 15
Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers for up to about 2 days; reheat each portion in the microwave for 15–20 seconds before eating.
Notes
