Ingredients

  • 3.6 g matcha powder (Rocky’s Matcha; use less for a milder flavor. Some additional matcha is used for dusting.)
  • 36 ml water
  • 25 ml heavy cream (For the cream top.)
  • 10 ml milk (For the cream top.)
  • 3 tsp simple syrup (For the cream top.)
  • ice (Enough to fill a glass.)
  • 75 ml milk (For the drink base.)
  • matcha powder (For dusting the finished drink.)
  • salt (A sprinkle, to enhance the matcha flavor.)

Steps

  1. 1

Combine approximately 3.6 g matcha powder with 36 ml water. Whisk until smooth and thoroughly combined, then set the matcha aside.

  2. 2

Prepare the cream top with 25 ml heavy cream, 10 ml milk, and 3 teaspoons simple syrup. Mix until it is lightly fluffy; the intended texture is softer and less thick than a heavily whipped cream.

  3. 3

Fill a serving glass with ice.

  4. 4

Pour approximately 75 ml milk over the ice.

  5. 5

Add the prepared cream top to the glass.

  6. 6

Pour the whisked matcha into the drink.

  7. 7

Dust the surface with a little matcha powder and finish with a sprinkle of salt. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

The matcha is intended to be unsweetened; most of the sweetness comes from the cream top. The source does not specify the exact cream-whipping method or texture endpoint beyond describing it as fluffier and less thick than the original.
