Recipe by Ferahkitchen Facebook

Imported by Jennifer MacMillan on SeeMeCook

A mixture made with softened butter, sautéed garlic, olive oil, and spices is spread over the bread, then baked with plenty of kaşar cheese and served hot. Using stale bread gives better results.

Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf of bread or ciabatta (Using stale bread is recommended; it will be cut in half lengthwise.)
  • 1 baş garlic (Peel the cloves.)
  • 3 yemek kaşığı olive oil (For sautéing the garlic in the pan.)
  • 2 yemek kaşığı softened butter
  • salt (To taste.)
  • black pepper (To taste.)
  • red pepper flakes (To add to the mixture and sprinkle on top if desired.)
  • finely chopped parsley (A pinch.)
  • grated kaşar cheese (Sprinkle generously; the source also states that mozzarella can be used.)

Steps

  1. 1

    Peel the garlic cloves.

  2. 2

Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the garlic. Sauté briefly, stirring, and do not leave it unattended because it cooks very quickly.

  3. 3

Leave the sautéed garlic to cool.

  4. 4

Mash the cooled garlic. Prepare the garlic mixture by combining it with the softened butter, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and finely chopped parsley.

  5. 5

Cut the bread in half lengthwise and place the two pieces on a baking tray.

  6. 6

Divide the garlic mixture between the bread pieces and spread it evenly over the entire surface.

  7. 7

Sprinkle generously with grated kaşar cheese. You can sprinkle on a little more red pepper flakes if desired.

  8. 8

Preheat the oven thoroughly to 230°C.

  9. 9

Bake the bread in the 230°C oven for approximately 15 minutes.

  10. 10

Remove the bread from the oven and serve hot.

Notes

The source does not specify the amount of kaşar cheese; using plenty is recommended. It is noted that cooked garlic has a less intense smell than raw garlic.
