Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast (Halved lengthwise and pounded to an even thickness)
  • salt (To taste, for seasoning the chicken)
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder (For seasoning the chicken)
  • 1 tsp black pepper (For seasoning the chicken)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp clarified butter or oil (For cooking the chicken)
  • 2 tbsp fresh garlic (Finely minced; for the Alfredo sauce)
  • 2 tbsp butter (For the Alfredo sauce)
  • 1 cup unsweetened heavy whipping cream
  • salt (To taste, for the Alfredo sauce)
  • 1 tsp black pepper (For the Alfredo sauce)
  • 0.5 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (Softened, for the garlic butter compound)
  • 1 tbsp fresh garlic (Finely minced; for the garlic butter compound)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (Finely chopped; some is also used as a topping)
  • salt (Some, to taste, for the garlic butter compound)
  • 1 loaf Italian bread (Cut in half lengthwise)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

Pat the chicken dry. Season both sides with salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and onion powder.

  3. 3

Heat the clarified butter or oil in a pan over medium heat.

  4. 4

Once the butter is melted or the oil is hot, add the seasoned chicken. Cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  5. 5

Remove the chicken from the pan, slice it, and set it aside.

  6. 6

In another pan, add the butter and heat it over medium-low heat.

  7. 7

Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.

  8. 8

Add the heavy whipping cream. Bring the mixture to a boil.

  9. 9

Gradually add the Parmesan cheese, then season with salt to taste and black pepper.

  10. 10

Cook the Alfredo sauce over medium-low heat until it thickens.

  11. 11

Make the garlic butter compound by mixing the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley in a bowl. Add some salt and mix well to combine.

  12. 12

Cut the Italian loaf in half lengthwise and spread 2–3 tablespoons of the garlic butter compound over the cut sides.

  13. 13

Add Alfredo sauce to the bread, then add the mozzarella cheese and top with the sliced chicken.

  14. 14

Top with more Alfredo sauce and some parsley.

  15. 15

Place the assembled bread on a baking sheet. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted and golden.

  16. 16

Serve warm, optionally with leftover Alfredo sauce.

Notes

The source does not specify how much Alfredo sauce to use inside or on top of the bread, so add it according to preference. It also does not specify the amount of parsley used as the final topping; the listed tablespoon is the source quantity for the compound and garnish is described as “some.”
