Ingredients

  • Cabbage (Shredded very thin)
  • Andouille sausage (The cook says they are using chorizo instead; use one of these sausages)
  • Ground beef
  • Cajun seasoning
  • Chili powder
  • Ground cumin
  • Bell pepper (Part of the Cajun trinity)
  • Celery (Part of the Cajun trinity)
  • Onion (Part of the Cajun trinity)
  • Rice (For serving)

Steps

  1. 1

Prepare the cabbage by shredding it very thinly.

  2. 2

Cook the andouille sausage. The creator says they used chorizo instead. Once cooked, remove the sausage from the cooking vessel and set it aside.

  3. 3

Cook the ground beef in the same cooking vessel.

  4. 4

Season the ground beef with Cajun seasoning, chili powder, and cumin.

  5. 5

Add the bell pepper, celery, and onion—the Cajun trinity—and cook them with the beef.

  6. 6

Add the cooked sausage back to the vessel.

  7. 7

Add the finely shredded cabbage and stir it into the sausage, beef, and vegetables.

  8. 8

Cover the vessel with a lid. Stir every 5 to 10 minutes and continue cooking until the cabbage is tender.

  9. 9

Serve the dirty cabbage with rice.
