Ingredients
- 3 Eggs (At room temperature)
- 80 g Sugar (Approximately 1/3 cup)
- 120 ml Milk (At room temperature)
- 30 g Butter (Melted)
- 5 g Baking powder (Approximately 1 heaped dessert spoon)
- 0.5 tsp Cinnamon
- 120 g Flour (Approximately 1 cup)
- Salt (A pinch)
- 5 Apples (5-6 apples; washed, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
- Powdered sugar (For serving, to sprinkle on top)
Steps
- 1
Place the eggs and sugar in a deep bowl and whisk lightly.
- 2
Add the melted butter and room-temperature milk; whisk again until the mixture is well combined.
- 3
In a separate bowl, lightly mix the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- 4
Sift the dry ingredients into the egg mixture. Mix until no lumps of flour remain, then set the mixture aside.
- 5
Wash, peel, and quarter the apples. Remove the cores.
- 6
Slice the apples very thinly using a mandoline. If you do not have a mandoline, use a sharp knife and slice them as thinly as possible.
- 7
Add the thin apple slices to the batter and mix thoroughly until the apples are completely coated.
- 8
Line a cake pan with parchment paper. Arrange the apple mixture in layers in the pan; you can use tongs or a spoon.
- 9
Pour the remaining batter from the bowl over the apples in the pan.
- 10
Bake the cake in a preheated 190°C conventional oven for approximately 1 hour.
- 11
If the top browns too much during baking, cover it with parchment paper and continue baking.
- 12
Once the cake has cooled completely, dust it with powdered sugar and serve.
Notes
The source does not specify the pan size. Slicing the apples very thinly is important for achieving the cake's characteristic pudding-like texture.
