Ingredients

  • Phyllo pastry sheets
  • 1 cup Baby spinach
  • 0.5 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup Feta cheese
  • 0.333 tsp Salt (Add according to taste because the feta and mozzarella are already salty.)
  • 1 tbsp Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Red chili flakes
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter (Melt before brushing the phyllo sheets and pastry tops.)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Onion (Diced.)
  • Oil (For sautéing the onion and spinach; amount not specified.)
  • Sesame seeds (For garnish; amount not specified.)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C).

  2. 2

Heat some oil in a pan. Add the diced onion and baby spinach, and sauté them until the spinach is cooked and the onion is softened.

  3. 3

Transfer the sautéed onion and spinach to a bowl.

  4. 4

Add the feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, egg, salt, pepper, and red chili flakes to the bowl.

  5. 5

Mix everything together to make the cheese-and-spinach filling.

  6. 6

Brush a phyllo pastry sheet with melted butter.

  7. 7

Place 1 tablespoon of the cheese-and-spinach filling at the bottom of the phyllo sheet.

  8. 8

Roll the filled phyllo sheet up flag-style to form a triangle. Repeat with the remaining phyllo sheets and filling.

  9. 9

Brush the tops of the phyllo triangles with melted butter.

  10. 10

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the buttered tops.

  11. 11

Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the phyllo triangles are golden brown.
