Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp butter (Softened; used for the cinnamon-butter filling)
  • 2 tbsp sugar (Use 1 tablespoon in the egg mixture and 1 tablespoon in the cinnamon butter)
  • butter (For lightly greasing the nonstick griddle or skillet)
  • powdered sugar (For dusting)
  • maple syrup (For serving)

Steps

  1. 1

Beat the eggs in a shallow dish. Add the milk and 1 tablespoon of the sugar, then whisk until the mixture is well blended.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, combine the softened butter, the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar, and the cinnamon. Mix until well combined to make the cinnamon butter.

  3. 3

Spread the cinnamon butter evenly over each slice of bread.

  4. 4

Stack the prepared bread slices. Dip the stack in the egg mixture, turning it so the bread is coated evenly on both sides.

  5. 5

Lightly grease a nonstick griddle or skillet with butter and heat it over medium heat.

  6. 6

Cook the coated bread on the griddle or skillet until browned on both sides.

  7. 7

Dust the finished French toast with powdered sugar. Serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes

The source does not specify the amount of powdered sugar or maple syrup, nor an exact cooking time; cook until both sides are browned.
