Ingredients
- 6 apples (peeled and chopped)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for the filling)
- 0.25 cup brown sugar (for the filling)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- salt (a pinch)
- 2 tbsp melted butter (to mix with the apples)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for the crumble)
- 0.5 cup brown sugar (for the crumble)
- 100 g cold butter (cut into cubes)
- oats or chopped nuts (optional for the crumble)
Steps
- 1
Start by peeling and chopping the apples into uniform pieces.
- 2
In a large bowl, mix the chopped apples with a bit of flour, brown sugar, a pinch of salt, and ground cinnamon.
- 3
Add the melted butter to the apple mixture and stir well so all pieces are coated.
- 4
Transfer the apple mixture to a baking dish and press it down slightly to level it.
- 5
To prepare the crumble, mix the dry ingredients (flour and brown sugar) with the cold butter in another bowl.
- 6
Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the dry ingredients until the texture resembles wet sand. If desired, add oats or chopped nuts at this point.
- 7
Cover the apples in the dish evenly with the crumble mixture.
- 8
Bake for approximately 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- 9
Serve warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
You can customize the topping by adding oats or your favorite nuts for extra texture. It's an ideal last-minute dessert.
