Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, roughly mashed (Large bananas)
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter (Browned before adding to the batter)
- 0.5 cup granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup brown sugar (Packed)
- 1 large egg (At room temperature)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- salt (A pinch)
- 0.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (Folded into the batter)
- chopped walnuts (Optional; for sprinkling on top)
- semi-sweet chocolate chips (Additional chips for sprinkling on top, if desired)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- 2
Place the 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- 3
Cook the butter, stirring occasionally, for about 5–7 minutes, until it turns deep golden brown and develops a nutty aroma.
- 4
Remove the browned butter from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- 5
In a large mixing bowl, combine the roughly mashed bananas, slightly cooled browned butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract.
- 6
Whisk the wet ingredients until well combined.
- 7
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- 8
Sift the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
- 9
Mix until just combined; do not continue mixing beyond that point.
- 10
Fold in the measured semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- 11
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- 12
If desired, sprinkle chopped walnuts and additional chocolate chips over the top.
- 13
Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
- 14
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- 15
Transfer the bread to a wire rack and let it cool completely before serving.
