Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pistachios (Fold into the dough)
  • 0.5 cup warm milk
  • 1 chocolate bar (Melted for dipping; bar size is not specified)
  • all-purpose flour (Optional extra flour: 1–2 tbsp, added 1 tbsp at a time if the dough is too sticky)
  • additional pistachios (Optional, for sprinkling)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking sheet for the biscotti dough.

  2. 2

In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and granulated sugar. Set the dry mixture aside.

  3. 3

In another bowl, stir the butter and olive oil on medium speed until just combined, about 1 minute.

  4. 4

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-and-oil mixture, and stir to combine.

  5. 5

Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined.

  6. 6

Add the warm milk and mix until a dough forms.

  7. 7

Check the dough consistency. It should be soft and slightly sticky. If it is too sticky, add 1–2 tablespoons of additional flour, adding 1 tablespoon at a time.

  8. 8

Fold in the pistachios. Do not overmix the dough.

  9. 9

Shape the dough into a log and place it on the prepared baking sheet.

  10. 10

Bake for 25 minutes at 350°F (175°C). Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the baked dough cool for 10 minutes.

  11. 11

Cut the cooled log into 1-inch slices.

  12. 12

Return the slices to the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

  13. 13

Turn the biscotti slices over and bake for another 10 minutes.

  14. 14

Remove the biscotti from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack and let them cool completely.

  15. 15

Dip the cooled biscotti into the melted chocolate. If desired, sprinkle them with additional pistachios.

  16. 16

Let the chocolate dry before serving or storing the biscotti.

Notes

The source does not specify the chocolate bar size or provide detailed instructions for melting the chocolate. Store the finished biscotti in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
