Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas (Large; roughly mashed)
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter (Melted)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 0.5 cup brown sugar (Packed)
- 1 large egg (At room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 0.5 cup all-purpose flour (Sift before mixing)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 cup walnuts (Chopped; mix into the batter, reserving some to scatter on top)
- 0.5 cup semisweet chocolate chips (Mix into the batter, reserving some to scatter on top)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- 2
Roughly mash the ripe bananas. Melt the unsalted butter if it is not already melted.
- 3
Following the ingredient order, whisk the wet ingredients together by hand. Do not use an electric beater.
- 4
Sift in the all-purpose flour and add the cocoa powder and baking soda. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a spoon or spatula until combined.
- 5
Mix in the chopped walnuts and semisweet chocolate chips, reserving some of each for the topping. The finished batter will be very thick.
- 6
Transfer the thick mixture to the parchment-lined loaf pan and spread it into the pan.
- 7
Scatter the reserved chopped walnuts and chocolate chips over the top.
- 8
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for roughly 1 hour 15 minutes, until baked through.
Notes
The source does not specify the loaf-pan size or an exact doneness test. It says to reserve some of the listed walnuts and chocolate chips for topping, but does not state how much; use the total listed amounts according to preference.
