Ingredients
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (Melted and cooled)
- 0.5 cup Light brown sugar
- 0.333 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 Large egg
- 1 tbsp Vanilla extract
- 1.25 cups All-purpose flour (Spooned and leveled)
- 0.5 tsp Baking soda
- Salt (A pinch)
- 1.5 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt (Optional; for garnish)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set the dry mixture aside.
- 3
In a separate bowl, combine the melted, cooled butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
- 4
Whisk the butter-and-sugar mixture for 1–2 minutes, until it forms a smooth paste.
- 5
Crack the egg into the butter-and-sugar mixture and add the vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- 6
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet batter. Gently fold until just combined.
- 7
Add the chocolate chips and mix them in with a spatula. Do not overmix the batter.
- 8
Scoop out 9 cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
- 9
Bake for 12 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown and crisp around the edges while remaining gooey in the center.
- 10
Remove the cookies from the oven and, if using, sprinkle them with flaky sea salt.
- 11
Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.
