  • 0.25 tsp smoked paprika (For the aioli.)
  • salt (A pinch, for the aioli.)
  • additional cooking oil (A little, for cooking the chicken in the skillet.)

Steps

  1. 1

Add the honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, butter, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt to a small saucepan.

  2. 2

Heat the hot honey mixture over low heat for 1–2 minutes, stirring until combined and glossy. Set it aside.

  3. 3

Add the chicken pieces, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and cornstarch to a bowl.

  4. 4

Toss the chicken until it is evenly coated with the oil and seasonings.

  5. 5

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a little additional oil.

  6. 6

Add the seasoned chicken to the skillet and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.

  7. 7

Mix the softened salted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, garlic powder, salt, and grated Parmesan until fully combined.

  8. 8

Mix the mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons hot honey, grated garlic, lemon juice, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt until smooth.

  9. 9

Refrigerate the hot honey garlic aioli until ready to serve.

  10. 10

    Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  11. 11

Slice the large loaf in half lengthwise and spread the cut sides generously with garlic butter.

  12. 12

Top the buttered loaf with half of the shredded mozzarella.

  13. 13

Add the hot honey chicken over the first layer of mozzarella.

  14. 14

Top with the remaining mozzarella and the grated Parmesan.

  15. 15

Bake for 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden.

  16. 16

If desired, broil for 1–2 minutes to further brown the top, watching closely.

  17. 17

Remove the bread from the oven and drizzle generously with the remaining hot honey.

  18. 18

Garnish with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan.

  19. 19

Slice and serve warm with the hot honey garlic aioli for dipping.

Notes

The source does not specify how much of the prepared hot honey is reserved for drizzling versus used in the aioli; use 2 tablespoons in the aioli and drizzle the remainder over the baked bread. Additional Parmesan is mentioned as a garnish but no quantity is specified. Broiling is optional and should be watched closely.
