Ingredients
- 2.5 cup Bisquick baking mix
- 4 tbsp butter (cold)
- 1 cup medium Cheddar cheese (heaping, grated)
- 0.75 cup whole milk (cold)
- 0.25 tsp garlic powder (for biscuit dough)
- 2 tbsp butter (melted, for topping)
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder (for topping)
- 0.25 tsp dried parsley flakes (for topping)
- salt (pinch, for topping)
Steps
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 2
In a large bowl, combine the Bisquick baking mix with 4 tablespoons of cold butter using a pastry cutter or a large fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3
Stir in the heaping cup of grated Cheddar cheese, 3/4 cup cold milk, and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- 4
Mix by hand until a dough forms, but do not overmix.
- 5
Drop portions of the dough (about 1/4 cup each) onto an ungreased baking sheet to make 12 biscuits.
- 6
Bake for 15 to 17 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- 7
While the biscuits are baking, prepare the topping by melting 2 tablespoons of butter and stirring in 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes, and a pinch of salt.
- 8
As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, use a pastry brush to spread the garlic butter mixture over the tops of each biscuit.
Notes
Using cold butter instead of just the shortening in the mix is the secret to getting a fluffy, airy texture. Ensure the milk is also cold to keep the butter from softening before baking.
