Ingredients

  • 12 spring roll sheets
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
  • salt (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder (for the filling)
  • 1 tbsp onion powder (for the filling)
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • black pepper (added with the filling seasonings; quantity not specified)
  • 12 cheddar cheese slices (use 1–2 slices per spring roll)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp oil (plus more for frying)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (for the cheeseburger sauce)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (for the cheeseburger sauce)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (for the cheeseburger sauce)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (for the cheeseburger sauce)
  • 1 tbsp pickled jalapeño (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder (for the cheeseburger sauce)
  • 1 tbsp onion powder (for the cheeseburger sauce)
  • 1 tsp black pepper (for the cheeseburger sauce)
  • salt (to taste, for the sauce)
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour (for sealing the spring rolls)
  • 2 tbsp water (to make a thick slurry)

Steps

  1. 1

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until caramelized, about 5–6 minutes.

  3. 3

Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 minute.

  4. 4

Add the ground beef and cook for 3–4 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.

  5. 5

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red chili powder.

  6. 6

Continue cooking over medium heat for 10–12 minutes, or until the beef is fully cooked.

  7. 7

Remove the beef mixture from the heat and set it aside.

  8. 8

Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chopped pickled jalapeño, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a bowl. Mix until well combined.

  9. 9

Refrigerate the cheeseburger sauce until ready to use.

  10. 10

Mix the flour and 2–3 tablespoons of water to make a thick slurry for sealing the spring rolls.

  11. 11

Lay one spring roll sheet on a flat surface.

  12. 12

Add 1–2 cheddar cheese slices to the sheet.

  13. 13

Place 1–2 tablespoons of the beef mixture in the center.

  14. 14

Drizzle 1–2 teaspoons of cheeseburger sauce over the beef mixture.

  15. 15

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the filling.

  16. 16

Fold the bottom half of the sheet over the filling, fold in the sides, and roll it up tightly. Seal the edge with the flour slurry.

  17. 17

Repeat the assembly process with the remaining spring roll sheets and filling ingredients.

  18. 18

For best results, freeze the assembled spring rolls for 10–15 minutes before frying.

  19. 19

Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F.

  20. 20

Fry the spring rolls until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side.

  21. 21

Drain the fried spring rolls to remove excess oil.

  22. 22

Serve the spring rolls hot with additional cheeseburger sauce for dipping.

Notes

The source also gives two alternatives: bake at 400°F for 12–15 minutes, or air-fry at 400°F for 15–20 minutes while lightly spraying with oil. Use high-quality spring roll sheets and avoid overfilling. The quantity of frying oil is not specified.
