Ingredients
- 400 g Ground beef
- 2 Sausages
- 150 g Bread
- 150 ml Milk
- 50 g Grated cheese
- Sweet paprika (to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- Flour (as needed, for coating)
- Butter (as needed, a small knob for browning)
- 3 Onions (finely sliced)
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 cucchiaio Tomato paste
- 400 ml Beer
- Sparkling water (a splash, optional for more tender meatballs)
Steps
- 1
Place the ground beef, sausages, bread soaked in milk, sweet paprika, grated cheese, salt, and pepper in a bowl. If you want more tender meatballs, add a splash of sparkling water. Mix and shape into meatballs that are neither too large nor too small.
- 2
Lightly coat the meatballs in flour.
- 3
Melt a small knob of butter in a skillet and brown the meatballs until well browned. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
- 4
In the same skillet, sauté the finely sliced onions together with a bay leaf until softened.
- 5
Add the tomato paste and stir to distribute it throughout the skillet.
- 6
Return the meatballs to the skillet and pour in the beer until they are covered.
- 7
Cover the skillet and cook gently for at least 20 minutes.
- 8
Remove the lid and cook for another 5 minutes, until the sauce has reduced.
- 9
Serve the meatballs when ready.
Notes
The amount of sparkling water is optional and not specified. Flour and butter are listed as needed; the recipe does not specify the exact amount. The description indicates 20 minutes covered and another 5 minutes uncovered.
