  • 1 tsp Yellow mustard (For the burger sauce)
  • 1 tsp Dill pickles (Chopped; for the burger sauce)
  • 0.25 tsp Smoked paprika (For the burger sauce)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (For the garlic Parmesan sauce)
  • 5 Garlic (Cloves, minced)
  • 0.75 cup Heavy cream (For the garlic Parmesan sauce)
  • 0.5 cup Milk (For the garlic Parmesan sauce)
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan (For the garlic Parmesan sauce)
  • 1 tsp Paprika (For the garlic Parmesan sauce)
  • 0.25 tsp Garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper (¼ tsp each, for the garlic Parmesan sauce)
  • Salt (To taste, for the garlic Parmesan sauce)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh parsley (For finishing the sauce)
  • 2 Burger buns (For assembly)
  • Butter (For toasting the buns)
  • Shredded lettuce (For assembly)
  • Parmesan and fresh parsley (For finishing)

Steps

  1. 1

Cook the sliced onion with ½ tablespoon butter, ½ tablespoon olive oil, and a pinch of salt in a pan over medium-low heat for 20–30 minutes, stirring as needed, until caramelized.

  2. 2

Mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, chopped dill pickles, and smoked paprika in a small bowl. Set the burger sauce aside.

  3. 3

Divide the ground beef into 4 portions and smash each portion into a patty. Season the patties with the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  4. 4

Cook the patties for 2–3 minutes, then flip them. Add one cheese slice to each patty and continue cooking until the beef is cooked through to 160°F/71°C.

  5. 5

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan and sauté the minced garlic for 30–45 seconds.

  6. 6

Add the heavy cream and milk to the garlic and butter.

  7. 7

Add the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt to the saucepan. Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes.

  8. 8

Reduce the heat and stir in the grated Parmesan until the sauce is smooth. Finish with the fresh parsley.

  9. 9

Toast the burger buns with butter.

  10. 10

Spread the burger sauce on the buns. Add two cheesy patties, the caramelized onions, and shredded lettuce to each burger. Close the burgers and cut each one in half.

  11. 11

Pour the garlic Parmesan sauce into a platter. Place the burger halves in the sauce and finish with Parmesan and fresh parsley.

Notes

The source specifies cooking the beef to 160°F/71°C but does not specify a bun-toasting time or amount of butter for toasting. Serve by dipping the burger halves into the garlic Parmesan sauce.
