Ingredients

  • 8 eggs (The recipe calls for 8 to 10 eggs.)
  • 1 tbsp salt (For the cooking water.)
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar (Add to the cooking water.)
  • 200 ml soy sauce (Have a little extra on hand if the eggs are not sufficiently submerged.)
  • 100 ml water (For the marinade; add a little more if necessary to submerge the eggs.)
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 5 garlic (Cloves, finely chopped.)
  • 2 green onions (Thinly sliced.)
  • 1 chili pepper (Optional; thinly sliced.)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • cold water and ice cubes (To cool the eggs immediately after cooking.)

Steps

  1. 1

Bring a pot of water to a boil with the salt and white vinegar.

  2. 2

Gently place the eggs in the boiling water and cook for 6 minutes.

  3. 3

Immediately remove the eggs and plunge them into cold water with ice cubes to stop the cooking and make them easier to peel.

  4. 4

Allow the eggs to cool completely, then peel them carefully.

  5. 5

Finely chop the garlic. Thinly slice the green onions and the chili pepper, if using.

  6. 6

In a container large enough, pour in the soy sauce, water, apple cider vinegar, and sesame oil.

  7. 7

Add the chopped garlic, green onions, chili pepper, sesame seeds, and honey, then mix the marinade thoroughly.

  8. 8

Add the peeled eggs to the marinade and make sure they are well coated and in contact with it.

  9. 9

Cover the container and refrigerate for at least overnight, or for a minimum of 24 hours according to the audio instructions.

  10. 10

If the eggs are not sufficiently submerged, add a little water and soy sauce to the marinade.

  11. 11

Serve the marinated eggs on their own, with a salad, rice, or an accompaniment of your choice.

Notes

The source indicates marinating in the refrigerator for at least overnight; the transcript specifies a minimum of 24 hours. The amount of cooking water and ice cubes is not specified. The eggs are described as soft-boiled, with a yolk that may remain cold and runny.
