Ingredients
- 1 rotisserie chicken (shredded; alternative: 2 cooked chicken breasts, shredded)
- 1 pack crescent rolls (8-count pack)
- 8 oz cheddar cheese (block, freshly grated; reserve ¼ cup for the sauce)
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup water
- 0.5 cup milk
- 1 tsp chicken bouillon
- garlic powder (to taste)
- onion powder (to taste)
- celery salt (to taste)
- paprika (to taste)
- black pepper (to taste)
- parsley (to taste)
- cooking spray or grease for baking dish (for greasing the baking dish)
Steps
- 1
Shred the rotisserie chicken (or the cooked chicken breasts) and freshly grate the cheddar. Set aside ¼ cup of grated cheddar for the sauce.
- 2
In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
- 3
Add the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring as needed.
- 4
Slowly whisk in the water until smooth.
- 5
Add the milk, chicken bouillon, and garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, paprika, black pepper, and parsley to taste. Whisk or stir to combine.
- 6
Stir in the reserved cheddar until melted and creamy. Once the sauce has thickened, turn off the burner and set the saucepan aside.
- 7
Mix the shredded chicken with the remaining grated cheddar. Season the mixture to taste with the listed seasonings.
- 8
Fill each crescent roll with some of the chicken mixture and roll it up.
- 9
Grease a baking dish and arrange the crescent roll-ups in it. Pour the sauce over the top.
- 10
Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 40 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked.
