Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 0.5 cup salted butter (melted)
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk (1 can)
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1.333 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup pecans (chopped)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray, then line it with parchment paper, leaving enough paper over the edges to lift out the finished bars.

  2. 2

Combine the graham cracker crumbs with the melted salted butter, mixing until evenly moistened and resembling wet sand.

  3. 3

Transfer the crumb mixture to the prepared pan and press it firmly and evenly across the bottom to form the crust.

  4. 4

Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust, covering the entire surface.

  5. 5

Scatter the butterscotch chips evenly over the condensed milk.

  6. 6

Layer the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly over the butterscotch chips.

  7. 7

Add the flaked coconut, followed by the chopped pecans, keeping the layers in that order. Spread everything evenly and press down gently with a fork so the layers adhere.

  8. 8

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the top is lightly golden and fragrant.

  9. 9

While the bars are still warm, loosen the edges from the pan with a knife. Transfer the pan to a wire rack and allow the bars to cool completely.

  10. 10

Use a sharp knife to cut the cooled bars into 24 squares.

Notes

Serve at room temperature. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days; place parchment between bars if stacking. To refresh the gooey texture, microwave briefly for about 10 seconds. The bars can also be frozen whole or pre-cut on a parchment-lined tray, then thawed at room temperature. For gluten-free bars, use gluten-free graham crackers. Pecans may be omitted or replaced with sunflower seeds; dairy-free adaptations require vegan butter, dairy-free chocolate chips, and a suitable dairy-free condensed milk.
