Ingredients

  • 3 Gala apples (Grated and drained to remove excess liquid)
  • 100 g gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds (Ground linseeds may also be used)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 0.25 cup coconut oil (As a source of fat)
  • salt (A pinch, to taste)
  • cinnamon (To taste)
  • whole cloves (To taste)
  • nutmeg (To taste)
  • ground ginger (To taste)
  • 0.5 cup chopped nuts (Optional)
  • 1 tableta dark chocolate (Optional; chopped and containing at least 70% cocoa. The exact weight of the bar is not specified.)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C) while you prepare the mixture.

  2. 2

Grate the three Gala apples using a box grater. Squeeze or drain off the excess liquid and place the apple pulp in a large bowl.

  3. 3

Add the gluten-free oats, chia seeds, ground flaxseeds, unsweetened shredded coconut and spices—cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and ginger—to the bowl.

  4. 4

Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors and pour in the coconut oil. Mix until all the ingredients are evenly combined.

  5. 5

If desired, stir in the chopped nuts and distribute them throughout the mixture.

  6. 6

Spread the mixture on a baking sheet, forming an even layer so it cooks uniformly.

  7. 7

    Bake at 350 °F (175 °C) for 20 minutes.

  8. 8

While the granola is still hot, chop the dark chocolate and sprinkle it over the top so the heat melts it slightly and distributes it throughout the granola.

  9. 9

Allow the granola to cool completely before storing it.

  10. 10

Store it in an airtight container in a cool place in the kitchen.

  11. 11

To serve it as a snack, you can layer it with yogurt and strawberry jam, as suggested by the creator.

Notes

The source does not specify the size of the chocolate bar or indicate whether the granola should be stirred during baking. The creator also suggests serving it layered with yogurt and strawberry jam.
