Ingredients
- 2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup half-and-half
- 0.75 cup sugar
- salt (Pinch)
- 1 vanilla bean (Split and scraped)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 star anise
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream (For each float; the recipe's homemade ice cream may be used)
- Nuka-Cola soda (Prepared soda of choice)
Steps
- 1
Combine the heavy cream, half-and-half, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and stir to combine.
- 2
Add the split and scraped vanilla bean, cinnamon stick, and star anise. Bring the mixture to a low boil, stirring frequently so the milk does not stick to the pan.
- 3
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
- 4
Transfer the mixture to a medium bowl and allow it to cool. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- 5
Follow the instructions for your ice cream maker to make the ice cream. Transfer the finished ice cream to a freezer-safe container and let it freeze overnight.
- 6
Before serving, remove the ice cream from the freezer for 10 minutes to make it easier to scoop.
- 7
Chill a tall glass in the freezer for 30 minutes.
- 8
Add two scoops of vanilla ice cream to the cold glass.
- 9
Carefully pour the prepared Nuka-Cola soda into the glass. Stir slightly and serve.
