Ingredients
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- 2 tbsp water
- 12 oz HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Mildly Sweet Chocolate Chips or HERSHEY’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (12 oz package; divided)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 0.667 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 tsp baking soda
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.5 cup HERSHEY'S Caramel Topping (At room temperature)
- 1 cup pecans (Pieces)
Steps
- 1
Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil, extending the foil over the edges. Grease and flour the foil.
- 2
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, and water. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
- 3
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Immediately add 1 cup of the chocolate chips and stir until melted.
- 4
Beat in the eggs and vanilla until well blended.
- 5
In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir this mixture into the chocolate mixture.
- 6
Spread the batter in the prepared pan.
- 7
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
- 8
Remove the brownies from the oven. Use a wooden skewer to poke holes into the brownie surface.
- 9
Immediately and carefully spread the caramel topping over the brownie surface.
- 10
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup chocolate chips and the pecans over the caramel topping. Lightly press them into the topping.
- 11
Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, taking care not to disturb the chocolate chips while they are soft.
- 12
Lift the brownies out of the pan using the foil edges and cut into bars.
Notes
Tip from the source: add coconut to the topping for another flavor variation. Structured data lists a 5-minute cook time, but the directions specify baking for 15–20 minutes; the listed cookMinutes reflects the explicit baking time. Total time includes cooling.
