Ingredients
- 800 г Potatoes (Boil in salted water and mash)
- 2 Eggs
- 200 г Flour (Also use for dusting your hands and the work surface during shaping)
- Salt (For the potatoes and filling, to taste)
- Homemade chicken pâté (For the filling)
- 2 Onions (Fry; add some to the pâté)
- Herbs (Finely chop and add to the filling)
- Black pepper (To taste)
- Vegetable oil (For frying the potato cakes)
- Sour cream (For serving)
Steps
- 1
Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, drain, and mash them.
- 2
Cool the mashed potatoes so they are easy to work with.
- 3
Fry the onions until done.
- 4
Place the chicken pâté in a bowl and add the fried onions and chopped herbs. Season with salt and pepper, then mix the filling.
- 5
Add 2 eggs and a little salt to the cooled potatoes. Mash and mix by hand.
- 6
Add 200 g of flour and knead into a dough. It should remain slightly sticky.
- 7
Dust your hands and the work surface with flour. Divide the potato dough into portions, flatten them, place the filling in the center, and shape the potato cakes, completely enclosing the filling with the dough.
- 8
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the potato cakes until golden brown on both sides.
- 9
Serve the potato cakes hot with sour cream.
Notes
The author also recommends making the filling with stewed cabbage, mushrooms with onions, or ground meat fried with onions. The source does not specify the quantities of pâté, herbs, salt, pepper, oil, or sour cream.
