Ingredients
- Prawns (Peeled and cleaned; remove the vein. The source does not provide a quantity.)
- Flour (For coating the prawns; shake off the excess. The source does not provide a quantity.)
- Tempura batter (The batter method is covered in the creator's previous video; no ingredients or quantity are provided here.)
- Frying oil (Use the oil prepared and tested according to the creator's previous video; quantity and temperature are not provided.)
- Daikon (For serving.)
- Tempura sauce (For serving.)
Steps
- 1
Peel each prawn all the way, then clean it thoroughly and remove the vein so the prawn is completely clean.
- 2
Make a small incision cut in the prawn. Make three small incisions along it, as demonstrated in the video.
- 3
Turn the prawn over and gently push it down to straighten it. This pressing and shaping action is referred to as “massaging the prawn.”
- 4
As an alternative straightening method, place the incised prawn on a sushi mat, turn it over, and lightly press it down to achieve the same straight tempura shape.
- 5
Coat the prepared prawn with flour, then shake or brush away the extra flour.
- 6
Prepare the tempura batter and test the frying oil as demonstrated in the creator's previous video. The present source refers viewers to that earlier video for the batter method, oil test, and frying instructions.
- 7
Fry the prepared prawn tempura according to the referenced method until it is light and fluffy. The source does not state the oil temperature or frying time.
- 8
Serve the prawn tempura with some daikon and tempura sauce.
Notes
This is Part 2 of a multi-part demonstration and does not provide quantities, the batter formula, oil temperature, frying time, or complete frying instructions. Those details are stated to be in the creator's previous video. The source demonstrates prawn preparation and straightening rather than a complete standalone recipe.
