- 0.25 cup milk (For the cake batter)
- 0.25 cup neutral oil (For the cake batter)
- 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste (Or use 2 tsp vanilla extract (10 g))
- 8 Oreos, finely crushed (For the cake)
- 1 can evaporated milk (354 g can)
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (396 g can)
- 1.5 cup whole milk (For the tres leches soak)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (For the tres leches soak)
- 1.5 cup heavy whipping cream (For the whipped topping)
- 0.333 cup powdered sugar (Or more to taste)
- 0.5 cup Oreos, crushed (For folding into the whipped topping)
- 1 tsp vanilla paste (For the whipped topping)
- crushed Oreos (Extra, for topping)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
- 2
Whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, salt, and finely crushed Oreos. Set the dry mixture aside.
- 3
In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks with 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar until pale and thick. Mix in the cake milk, neutral oil, and vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract.
- 4
In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar and continue beating until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- 5
Gently fold the dry ingredient mixture into the egg yolk mixture.
- 6
Fold the beaten egg whites into the batter in three additions, taking care not to overmix.
- 7
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- 8
Let the cake cool completely before adding the milk soak.
- 9
Whisk the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract together until smooth.
- 10
Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over it with a fork or skewer.
- 11
Slowly pour the milk mixture evenly over the cake, giving it time to soak in as you go.
- 12
Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 13
Beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla paste until stiff peaks form.
- 14
Gently fold the crushed Oreos into the whipped cream.
- 15
Spread the Oreo whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake.
- 16
Top with extra crushed Oreos and serve.
Notes
The source does not specify how many extra Oreos to use for topping. Refrigeration is required for at least 4 hours, with overnight chilling preferred.
