Ingredients
- 1 Pck. Wraps (store-bought tortilla wraps)
- 1 Pck. Chicken nuggets (can also use chicken chips or frozen mini schnitzels)
- 1 Iceberg lettuce (small head, washed and cut into strips)
- 1 Cucumber (chopped)
- 1 Tomato
- 1 Red bell pepper (cleaned and finely chopped)
- 1 Flasche Salsa (Texicana Salsa style)
- 1 Dose Kidney beans (drained)
- 1 Dose Corn kernels (drained)
- 5 EL Ketchup
- 1 Onion (finely chopped)
- 1 Zehe/n Garlic (finely chopped)
- 25 g Butter
- Paprika powder (hot or sweet, to taste)
- Cheese (shredded, as needed)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the chicken pieces (nuggets, chips, or mini schnitzels) on a baking tray and bake for 20 to 30 minutes until crispy.
- 2
While the chicken is baking, prepare the sauce. Finely chop the onion, red bell pepper, and garlic.
- 3
Heat the butter in a pan and sauté the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic over high heat until browned.
- 4
Deglaze the pan with the bottle of salsa and add the ketchup. Optional: Rinse the salsa bottle with a little water and add that to the sauce as well.
- 5
Add the drained kidney beans and corn to the sauce. Season with paprika powder.
- 6
If the sauce is too liquid, let it simmer over low heat until it reaches your desired consistency.
- 7
Prepare the fresh vegetables: wash the iceberg lettuce and cut into strips; chop the cucumber and tomato.
- 8
Shortly before the chicken is done, moisten the wraps slightly. Heat them in the microwave for 1 minute per wrap (do not do too many at once) or briefly warm them in the oven with the chicken.
- 9
Serve all components separately at the table so everyone can assemble their own wraps with chicken, vegetables, salad, sauce, and grated cheese according to their preference.
Notes
Tip: You can expand this into a party menu by adding a ground meat filling, additional vegetables, and extra grated cheese.
