Ingredients

  • 2 kg potatoes (thinly slice the potatoes)
  • 1.5 cup Gouda or Swiss cheese (finely shredded)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cajas heavy cream (approximately 500ml in total)
  • 2 cup Costa Rican or semi-hard Turrialba cheese (finely shredded)
  • 0.75 cup chopped parsley
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)
  • nutmeg (to taste)

Steps

  1. 1

Thinly slice the potatoes and cook them in salted water for 5 minutes.

  2. 2

Finely shred the Gouda or Swiss cheese and set aside.

  3. 3

Finely shred the Costa Rican or Turrialba cheese and mix it with the chopped parsley.

  4. 4

In a separate bowl, mix the heavy cream with the salt, pepper, nutmeg, and the egg.

  5. 5

In a large greased baking dish, place a layer of potato slices.

  6. 6

Then, on top of the potatoes, spread all of the Costa Rican cheese mixed with parsley and a little of the Swiss cheese.

  7. 7

Add the rest of the potatoes, followed by the heavy cream mixture, and top with the remaining Swiss or Gouda cheese.

  8. 8

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 45 minutes.

  9. 9

Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes so it can be sliced easily.

Notes

Es importante dejar reposar el gratinado después de hornear para que las capas se asienten y sea más fácil de servir.
