Ingredients
- 1.5 lb skillet gnocchi
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (Or ghee or olive oil)
- 5 cloves garlic (Minced)
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
- 0.333 cup Parmesan cheese (Freshly grated; divided, with half used during cooking and the remainder for serving)
- fresh basil or parsley (Chopped, for serving)
Steps
- 1
Melt the unsalted butter in a medium or large skillet.
- 2
Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Heat until fragrant.
- 3
Remove the garlic from the skillet and set it aside to prevent it from burning. Leave the garlic-infused butter in the pan.
- 4
Add the skillet gnocchi to the pan without cleaning it. Cook over high heat, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes. Spread the gnocchi evenly across the pan continuously so it develops a crisp texture on all sides; cook for 1 additional minute if a crispier texture is desired.
- 5
Return the reserved garlic to the pan. Sprinkle in half of the grated Parmesan and stir briefly to coat the gnocchi well.
- 6
Remove the garlic-butter-Parmesan gnocchi from the pan. Serve with the remaining grated Parmesan and chopped basil or parsley.
Notes
Use skillet gnocchi so it can be cooked directly in the pan without boiling or draining. The source notes that regular shelf-stable gnocchi may also work, but specifically recommends skillet gnocchi. Serve immediately for the best crisp texture.
