Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 2 Tomatoes (Cut into thick, ring-shaped slices)
- 2 Eggs (Lightly beaten or poured directly over the tomatoes)
- 50 g Grated kaşar cheese
- 0.5 tsp Dried oregano
- 0.5 tsp Ground black pepper
- 0.5 tsp Sweet paprika or ground red chili
- 0.5 tsp Chili flakes
- 0.5 tsp Salt (The original post groups the salt with the other spices; adjust to taste)
Steps
- 1
Cut the tomatoes into thick slices and grate the kaşar cheese. Have the eggs and spices ready before starting, as the preparation is quick.
- 2
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter, making sure it coats the bottom without browning or burning.
- 3
Place the tomato slices in the skillet in a single layer. Cook until lightly browned and beginning to soften, approximately 2 minutes.
- 4
Carefully turn the tomato slices over to brown the other side.
- 5
Sprinkle the oregano, black pepper, paprika, chili flakes, and salt over the tomatoes.
- 6
Pour the eggs over and around the tomatoes. Cook over medium-low heat for approximately 1–2 minutes, until the whites begin to set but the eggs are still tender.
- 7
Distribute the grated kaşar cheese over the top. Cover the skillet and cook for 2 more minutes, until the cheese melts and the eggs are cooked to your liking.
- 8
Remove the lid and serve immediately, straight from the skillet or divided among plates.
Notes
The original recipe indicates cooking the eggs for 1–2 minutes and then covering the skillet with the cheese for 2 minutes. Adjust the final cooking time depending on whether you prefer the yolks runny or fully set.
