Ingredients
- 500 g minced beef (ground beef)
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs (estimated for binding)
- 1 tbsp Italian style herb seasoning (M&S brand mentioned)
- 0.5 tsp chilli flakes (to taste for heat)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for frying)
- 0.5 cup sun-dried tomatoes (chopped)
- 3 garlic (cloves, minced)
- 0.5 cup beef broth (to deglaze the pan)
- 1 cup heavy cream (double cream)
- 0.5 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
- 0.25 cup fresh basil (chopped)
- 2 cup fresh spinach (packed)
Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the minced beef, breadcrumbs, Italian herb seasoning, and chilli flakes.
- 2
Roll the mixture into even-sized meatballs.
- 3
Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
- 4
In the same pan, add the sun-dried tomatoes and minced garlic. Sauté briefly until fragrant.
- 5
Pour in a splash of beef broth to deglaze the pan, scraping up all the browned bits from the bottom.
- 6
Stir in the heavy cream and grated parmesan cheese. Continue to stir until the sauce turns silky and begins to thicken.
- 7
Add the fresh basil and spinach directly into the sauce, stirring until the spinach has wilted.
- 8
Return the meatballs to the pan. Simmer everything together for a few minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is well combined.
- 9
Serve warm with homemade ciabatta for mopping up the sauce.
