Ingredients

  • 6 large apples (Source specifies 6–8 apples; examples include Elstar, Boskop, or Jonagold. Tops removed and apples hollowed.)
  • 1 lemon juice (Juice of 1 lemon; for drizzling over the prepared apples.)
  • 400 g cream cheese (For the cheesecake cream.)
  • 200 g Schmand (German-style sour cream; for the cheesecake cream.)
  • 140 g sugar (For the cheesecake cream.)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract (For the cheesecake cream.)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (For the cheesecake cream.)
  • 1 packet vanilla pudding powder (For the cheesecake cream; packet weight not specified.)
  • 75 g flour (For the cinnamon streusel.)
  • 50 g cold butter (For the cinnamon streusel.)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (For the cinnamon streusel.)
  • 45 g brown sugar (For the cinnamon streusel.)
  • powdered sugar (For dusting before serving; amount not specified.)
  • fresh mint (Optional garnish; amount not specified.)

Steps

  1. 1

Combine the flour, cold butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar for the streusel. Work the mixture with your hands until small streusel crumbs form, then chill them.

  2. 2

Stir the cream cheese, Schmand, sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and vanilla pudding powder together until the cheesecake cream is smooth and creamy.

  3. 3

Prepare the apples by cutting off their tops. Hollow them out with a spoon, removing the cores and some of the flesh while leaving the apples intact enough to hold the filling.

  4. 4

Immediately drizzle the hollowed apples with the lemon juice to help prevent browning.

  5. 5

Fill each apple with cheesecake cream, stopping just below the rim.

  6. 6

Top each filled apple with approximately 1 tbsp of the chilled streusel.

  7. 7

Place the apples in the air fryer and bake in the bake mode at 165°C for approximately 15–20 minutes, until the streusel is golden brown. The source notes that the featured air fryer may cook about 40% faster than conventional models.

  8. 8

Let the baked apples cool briefly, then dust them with powdered sugar and garnish with a little mint if desired.

  9. 9

Serve the apples lukewarm, preferably directly from the air fryer.

Notes

The source does not specify the packet weight of the vanilla pudding powder or the amount of powdered sugar and mint. Apple quantity is given as 6–8 large apples; nutrition and grams use 6 apples. The recipe is written for an air fryer with a bake mode.
