Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (The author uses olive oil spray as an alternative.)
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • fresh parsley (Chopped; for garnish.)
  • lemon juice (For finishing; use a squeeze over the cooked tilapia.)

Steps

  1. 1

In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Set the seasoning mixture aside.

  2. 2

Place the tilapia fillets on a large plate. Rub or spray both sides of each fillet with the olive oil.

  3. 3

Season both sides of the tilapia fillets with the prepared seasoning mixture.

  4. 4

Arrange the fillets in the air-fryer basket without overlapping them. Air-fry at 400°F (204°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the fish is flaky.

  5. 5

Garnish the cooked tilapia with fresh chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice.

Notes

Fresh or frozen fillets may be used, but thawing is recommended because thin tilapia can overcook easily. Do not flip the fish during cooking, and cook in batches if necessary to avoid overlapping. The FDA recommends cooking tilapia to an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C). Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in the air fryer at 400°F for 4 to 5 minutes, depending on thickness.
