Ingredients

  • 300 g Cooked cannellini beans (Drained; use already-cooked beans)
  • 25 g Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 50 g Oats (Preferably rolled oats)
  • 90 g Maple syrup
  • 60 g Seed oil (Neutral-flavored oil)
  • 60 g Dark chocolate (Broken into pieces or chopped; optionally reserve some for the top)
  • 60 g Walnuts or pecans (Coarsely chopped; optionally reserve some for the top)
  • Flaky salt (For garnishing the top, to taste)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 180 °C in conventional mode. Prepare a baking pan or small baking dish measuring approximately 25 × 15 cm.

  2. 2

Line the pan with damp, thoroughly wrung-out parchment paper, pressing it against the bottom and sides. This will make it more flexible and easier to fit into the baking dish.

  3. 3

Place the cooked, drained cannellini beans, seed oil, maple syrup, oats, and unsweetened cocoa powder in a blender.

  4. 4

Blend for a few seconds, just long enough to obtain a smooth, soft batter. There is no need to process it any longer than necessary.

  5. 5

Add the dark chocolate and chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter. Stir with a spatula until evenly distributed.

  6. 6

Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and smooth the surface with a spatula or the back of a spoon.

  7. 7

Sprinkle the top with the additional nuts and chocolate, if reserved, then finish with a few flakes of salt to taste.

  8. 8

Bake in the conventional oven at 180 °C for approximately 25 minutes. The brownies should be set around the edges but still soft and moist in the center.

  9. 9

Let cool slightly before removing from the pan and cutting into portions. Serve on their own or with a long coffee prepared using a French press.

Notes

The creator suggests serving the brownies with a 100% Arabica filter coffee, medium roast and moderate intensity, prepared in a French press: steep the coffee for approximately 5 minutes, then filter and serve. For cleaner cuts, let the brownies cool completely before slicing.
