Ingredients
- 1.5 lb ground beef (93% lean or leaner)
- 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg (Use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon.)
- 0.25 tsp pepper
- 26 oz prepared pasta or marinara sauce (1 jar)
- 1.5 cup water
- 20 oz cheese ravioli (1 package; refrigerated or frozen, package may contain 20 to 25 ounces)
- 1 cup Italian cheese blend (shredded)
- cooking spray (for coating the baking dish)
Steps
- 1
Heat the oven to 400°F. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot.
- 2
Add the ground beef and minced garlic to the hot skillet. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, breaking the beef into 3/4-inch crumbles and stirring occasionally.
- 3
Remove the cooked beef from the skillet with a slotted spoon. Pour off the drippings, then return the beef to the skillet.
- 4
Add the salt, ground nutmeg, and pepper. Stir and mix well.
- 5
Stir in the prepared pasta or marinara sauce and water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 6
Cook the beef sauce for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Coat a 13 x 9-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray.
- 8
Layer half of the cheese ravioli in the prepared baking dish.
- 9
Layer half of the beef mixture over the ravioli, followed by half of the shredded Italian cheese blend.
- 10
Repeat the layers with the remaining ravioli, beef mixture, and shredded cheese. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
- 11
Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes, or for 20 minutes if using frozen ravioli.
- 12
Uncover the dish and continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes, until the sauce is bubbly and the pasta is tender.
- 13
Let the lasagna stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
The source does not specify whether the ravioli should be thawed when using frozen ravioli; it only provides the longer covered-baking time for frozen ravioli.
