Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter (softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 2 cup chocolate chips
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line three baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside.
- 2
In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sea salt. Set the dry mixture aside.
- 3
In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars until combined.
- 4
Beat in the eggs and vanilla until the mixture is light, about 1 minute.
- 5
Mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
- 6
Add the chocolate chips and mix well.
- 7
Scoop 2–3 tablespoons of dough at a time, depending on your preferred cookie size, and roll each portion into a ball. Arrange the dough balls evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheets. A 2-tablespoon scoop makes dough balls of about 40–45 g each.
- 8
Bake in the preheated oven for about 8–10 minutes, removing the cookies when they are just beginning to turn brown.
- 9
Let the cookies rest on the baking pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack.
Notes
The source also describes freezing formed dough balls for up to 2 months. Frozen dough can be thawed at room temperature for about 1–2 hours and baked as directed, or baked from frozen: start them in the oven as it preheats to 350°F and bake for 15 minutes. The source notes that flour measurements can vary depending on how it is scooped and leveled.
