Ingredients
- 0.5 lb ground pork
- 2 green onions (chopped)
- 1 tsp chicken powder
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp fresh ginger (minced)
- 1 tsp garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp cooking wine (optional)
- black pepper (to taste)
- 0.333 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- dumpling wrappers (1 wrapper per bowl; quantity depends on the number of bowls used)
- water (for steaming; add enough to reach about halfway up the sides of the bowls)
- chili oil (optional, for serving)
- sesame seeds (optional, for serving)
Steps
- 1
Add the ground pork, chopped green onions, chicken powder, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, minced ginger, minced garlic, black pepper, cooking wine if using, and low-sodium chicken broth to a zip-top bag.
- 2
Press out the excess air, seal the bag, and massage the contents until the pork mixture is sticky and thoroughly combined.
- 3
Push the pork mixture toward one corner of the sealed bag. Cut a small hole in that corner so the bag can be used as a piping bag.
- 4
Pipe the pork mixture into small heat-resistant bowls, such as ramekins, filling each bowl about one-third full. Gently press the filling flat.
- 5
Place one dumpling wrapper on top of the pork filling in each bowl. If the wrappers are thick, briefly soak each one in water for 1 second before placing it on the filling.
- 6
Arrange the bowls in a pot. Add water to the pot until it reaches about halfway up the sides of the bowls, taking care not to pour water into the bowls.
- 7
Cover the pot with a lid and steam over medium heat for 15–20 minutes, or until the pork is fully cooked through.
- 8
Stop steaming as soon as the pork is cooked so the dumplings remain tender and moist.
- 9
Serve the dumplings hot, with chili oil, soy sauce, sesame seeds, or additional green onions if desired.
Notes
Use heat-resistant, ramekin-sized bowls. Cooking time may vary depending on how much pork is piped into each bowl. The source does not specify the number or exact size of bowls, so the wrapper quantity and yield will vary.
