Ingredients

  • Grape leaves (prepared (blanched or marinated))
  • Dolma filling (prepared mixture of meat and rice or a vegetarian filling)

Steps

  1. 1

Place a zip-top bag or sturdy plastic bag on the work surface.

  2. 2

Place the grape leaves on the bag with the smooth side down and the veins facing up.

  3. 3

Place a small amount of filling along the edge of the leaf near the base.

  4. 4

Fold the bottom edge of the leaf and the sides over the filling.

  5. 5

Cover the prepared leaf with the upper part of the bag.

  6. 6

Press the edge of the bag with a knife or ruler near the base of the roll and, while holding the tool in place, pull the bottom layer of the bag toward you. The roll will wrap itself into a tight tube.

Notes

This method significantly speeds up the preparation of a large quantity of dolma and ensures that each piece has a uniform shape.
