Ingredients
- 8 oz instant noodles of choice
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 garlic (minced)
- 0.25 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp reserved noodle water (Reserve from the noodle-cooking water)
- sesame seeds (Optional garnish)
- red pepper flakes (Optional garnish)
- scallions (Optional garnish)
Steps
- 1
Finely mince the garlic and set it aside.
- 2
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the instant noodles and cook them until they are about 1 minute before al dente. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the noodle water, then drain the noodles.
- 3
Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat.
- 4
Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook until fragrant.
- 5
Add the soy sauce, sugar, heavy cream, and reserved noodle water. Stir until the sauce begins to thicken slightly.
- 6
Add the drained noodles to the pan and continue tossing and cooking until the sauce becomes silky and clings to the noodles.
- 7
Transfer the noodles to a bowl. Optionally garnish with sesame seeds, red pepper flakes, and scallions.
Notes
For reheating, add a couple of tablespoons of water, mix, and reheat because the noodles naturally thicken the sauce as they cool. Suggested accompaniments include shredded chicken, steamed broccoli, bok choy, Chinese spinach, or raw cabbage.
