Ingredients
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.25 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp baking powder
- 0.25 cup butter (softened)
- 0.667 cup lukewarm water
- flour for kneading and rolling (Use as needed)
Steps
- 1
Whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
- 2
Add the softened butter and use a fork to cut it into the flour mixture until incorporated.
- 3
Add the lukewarm water and stir until a sticky dough ball forms.
- 4
Using flour as needed, knead the dough briefly.
- 5
Divide the dough into five equal portions.
- 6
Roll each portion into a ball, cover the dough balls with a tea towel, and let them rest for 30 minutes.
- 7
Using flour as needed, roll each dough ball into a 12-inch round, or roll it as thinly as possible.
- 8
Heat a skillet until hot. Keep it dry; no cooking oil is specified.
- 9
Working with one dough round at a time, transfer it to the hot, dry skillet and cook for about 30 seconds on each side.
- 10
Repeat the rolling and skillet-cooking process until all five tortillas are cooked.
Notes
The source notes that smaller taco-sized tortillas can be made instead. The creator particularly likes the larger tortillas for breakfast burritos with chive scrambled eggs, cheese, and hot sauce. The source does not specify skillet temperature, storage instructions, or how to keep the cooked tortillas warm.
