Ingredients

  • 2 lb Jalapeños (Washed and sliced)
  • 2 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Salt

Steps

  1. 1

Wash the jalapeños, then slice them. Wash your hands thoroughly afterward, especially before touching your eyes or face.

  2. 2

Place a pot over medium heat. Add the sugar, apple cider vinegar, water, turmeric, and salt.

  3. 3

Bring the mixture to a simmer and stir until all of the sugar has dissolved.

  4. 4

Add all of the sliced jalapeños to the simmering brine.

  5. 5

Allow the jalapeños to simmer for about 10 minutes, until they have changed to a darker green.

  6. 6

Transfer the jalapeños and their brine to a jar. Allow them to cool, then seal the jar and refrigerate.

  7. 7

Let the cowboy candy sit in the refrigerator for at least overnight so the flavors can mellow before serving.
