Ingredients
- 2 Burger buns (Use any bread if preferred; break into pieces before cooking.)
- 500 ml Milk
- 10.5 cubes Dark chocolate (Approximately 10–11 cubes; amount will vary with cube size.)
- 3.5 tbsp Cocoa powder (Use in the mousse mixture.)
- 2 tbsp Custard powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla essence
- Salt (A pinch.)
- 110 g Sweetened condensed milk (Use 100–120 g.)
- Cocoa powder (For dusting, as needed.)
Steps
- 1
Break the burger buns into small pieces and place them in a saucepan. If using another type of bread, remove any tough crusts if desired and tear the bread into pieces.
- 2
Add the milk, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, custard powder, vanilla essence, salt, and condensed milk to the saucepan.
- 3
Cook the mixture over medium heat for 10–12 minutes, stirring frequently so the milk does not scorch and the custard powder does not form lumps. Continue until the mixture is noticeably thick and glossy.
- 4
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly until it is safe to blend, but do not allow it to set completely.
- 5
Transfer the warm mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth and silky, stopping to scrape down the sides if necessary.
- 6
Pour the blended mousse into serving glasses or other containers.
- 7
Refrigerate the mousse for 2–3 hours, or leave it chilled overnight, until set and cold.
- 8
Dust the tops with cocoa powder just before serving.
Notes
The source suggests using any bread in place of burger buns. Chill overnight for the firmest texture. Because the size of the chocolate cubes is not specified, the chocolate weight is an estimate.
