Ingredients
- 2 large butter croissants
- 0.5 lb 80/20 ground beef
- salt (For seasoning the beef, to taste)
- black pepper (For seasoning the beef, to taste)
- 2 American or sharp cheddar cheese slices (Use either American cheese or sharp cheddar)
- lettuce (Amount not specified)
- 2 thick tomato slices
- 1 large yellow onion (Thinly sliced)
- 1 tbsp neutral oil (For caramelizing the onions)
- salt (A pinch, for the onions)
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tbsp dill pickle (Finely chopped)
- 0.25 tsp paprika
- 0.25 tsp garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter (Melted, for brushing the croissants)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley (Finely chopped)
- salt (A pinch, for the glaze)
Steps
- 1
Heat the neutral oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the thinly sliced yellow onion and a pinch of salt. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for about 15–20 minutes, until the onions are deeply golden brown and soft. Set them aside.
- 2
In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, finely chopped dill pickle, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper until the sauce is smooth. Set aside.
- 3
Slice each croissant in half horizontally. Place the halves cut-side down in a pan over medium heat and toast until lightly golden and slightly crisp. Remove and set aside.
- 4
Divide the ground beef into two portions. Place each portion between pieces of parchment or paper and press firmly to form thin patties. Season both sides of each patty with salt and black pepper.
- 5
Heat a cast-iron or stainless-steel pan over high heat. Add the thin patties directly to the hot pan.
- 6
Cook the patties without moving them for about 1–2 minutes, until the edges are crispy and browned.
- 7
Flip each patty and immediately place one cheese slice on top. Continue cooking until the cheese is fully melted.
- 8
Spread the dill burger sauce over the bottom half of each toasted croissant.
- 9
Add lettuce and the thick tomato slices to each croissant bottom.
- 10
Place a cheesy patty on each burger, then add the caramelized onions. Add additional sauce if desired and close each burger with the top croissant half.
- 11
Stir the chopped parsley and a pinch of salt into the melted butter.
- 12
Brush the parsley butter generously over the tops of the croissants just before serving.
- 13
Serve immediately while the burgers are warm, crispy, and glossy.
Notes
The source does not specify exact amounts for lettuce, beef seasoning, or whether additional sauce is used. Use the cheese variety of your choice: American or sharp cheddar.
